Meet James Charles, a 17-year-old aspiring makeup artist from New York who has already made quite the name for himself in the beauty industry.

Just one year ago, Charles began experimenting with makeup on himself, launching an Instagram account that now has more than 400,000 followers and a YouTube account with 70,000 subscribers.

"I started my account to post pictures of client makeup I did to get more gals during prom season! I never in a million years would've expected to be where I am today, or even working with CoverGirl," Charles told BuzzFeed.
